A substantial part of our law practice for over 30 years has been representing individuals involved in automobile, truck and motorcycle accidents. We have represented individuals who have sustained all types of serious injuries, from soft tissue neck and back injuries, to traumatic brain injuries and paralysis.
Most cases involve issues of negligence in which the negligence of the other driver caused the accident and an injury to our client. We often are able to resolve these cases with the other driver’s insurance company without filing a lawsuit.
Some cases involve issues of defective road and highway design. We have achieved excellent results for clients in this type of case. A recent case involved a substantial recovery against the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission because of the dangerous design of a state highway in which our client received a $250,000.00 award.
We have achieved very substantial recoveries for clients in cases against trucking companies. These cases sometimes involve detailed knowledge of ICC rules and regulations and analysis of trucking company records to determine violation of rules by the driver or the trucking company. In a recent case involving these issues, we achieved a $1,500,000.00 settlement for a client involved in a highway accident with an over the road truck.
Some serious accidents involve issues regarding the design of the vehicles. There are cases in which an injury occurs, or is greatly aggravated, because of the defective design of the vehicle. These are called crashworthiness cases. We have handled a number of crashworthiness cases and have achieved excellent results for our clients.
We handle these cases on a contingency fee so there is no attorney fee unless we achieve a recovery for our client. We also advance all expenses so the client does not have any out of pocket costs.
